Fundraising Efforts Save Lynwood Christmas Parade

Lynwood, Calif. (KTLA) -- The City of Lynwood's beloved Candy Cane Lane Christmas Parade received a last minute reprieve.

The annual parade took place as scheduled on Friday night, after it was cancelled earlier this year because of budget cuts.

It was the first time in the event's 91 year history that it had been sidelined.
But after a public outcry, city workers held a fundraiser they called "Save the Parade Campaign."

Thanks to that fundraising effort, the Lynwood City Council reinstated the parade.

Under the City's Recreation and Community Services Department, fundraisers for the "Save the Parade Campaign," included two carnivals, a car show and a Halloween Costume Dance.
